Christian Pulisic ha sido descartado de los partidos internacionales de Estados Unidos ante Gales y Panamá por una lesión en el tendón de la corva.

El estadounidense volverá ahora a su club, el Chelsea, para rehabilitarse, confirmó el entrenador en jefe Gregg Berhalter.

El jugador de 22 años acaba de regresar de un largo descanso, pero su progreso se vio interrumpido en el calentamiento de la victoria de los Blues en Burnley el 31 de octubre, con un problema en el tendón de la corva descubierto después de las pruebas.

El técnico del Chelsea, Frank Lampard, había dicho que la última lesión de Pulisic no era grave y el jugador viajó a Swansea para unirse a la selección nacional antes del choque del jueves en Gales.

"Christian es una gran parte de nuestro grupo", dijo Berhalter en una conferencia de prensa el miércoles, al tiempo que confirmó que Pulisic regresaría inmediatamente a Chelsea.

"Ha estado trabajando con una lesión, pero realmente dice mucho que quería venir al campamento, estar cerca de los muchachos y seguir siendo un líder con este equipo".

El equipo de Berhalter, que juega sus primeros partidos internacionales desde febrero luego de que la pandemia de COVID-19 obligó a posponer sus clasificatorios para la Copa del Mundo, se enfrentará a Panamá el lunes.
