Israel informó el viernes que está atacando la Franja de Gaza y declaró una “situación especial” en el frente interno tras varios días de tensiones provocadas por el arresto de un miliciano palestino de alta jerarquía en la Cisjordania ocupada.

El viernes se escuchó una explosión en Ciudad de Gaza y una nube de humo salió del séptimo piso de un edificio alto.

Días atrás, Israel cerró los caminos alrededor de Gaza y envió refuerzos a la frontera al prepararse para un ataque de represalia tras el arresto de un miembro de la conducción de la milicia Yihad Islámica en Cisjordania el lunes.

En tanto, varios cientos de israelíes se manifestaron cerca de la Franja de Gaza para reclamar la libertad de un cautivo y el envío de los restos de dos soldados israelíes en poder de los gobernantes de Hamas.

La manifestación era encabezada por la familia de Hadar Goldin, muerto junto con Oron Shaul en la guerra de Gaza de 2014. Hamas conserva sus restos y mantiene presos a dos civiles israelíes que entraron sin quererlo en Gaza y que se cree son enfermos mentales. La milicia espera intercambiarlos por algunos de los miles de presos palestinos en Israel.

El ministro de Defensa israelí, Benny Gantz, dijo el viernes durante visitas a poblaciones cerca de Gaza que las autoridades preparaban “medidas que eliminarán la amenaza de esta región”, sin entrar en detalles.
