Los líderes mundiales se expresaron contra el expresidente Donald Trump mientras participaban en la cumbre climática del Día de la Tierra de Joe Biden.

Biden convocó a 40 líderes de los países más poderosos del mundo para impulsar un esfuerzo global contra la crisis climática, incluso asegurando compromisos del presidente chino Xi Jinping y del presidente ruso Vladimir Putin.

Algunos líderes también aprovecharon la oportunidad para criticar a Trump, quien sacó a Estados Unidos del Acuerdo de París y trabajó para socavar las regulaciones ambientales durante su presidencia de un período.

La canciller alemana, Angela Merkel, dijo que estaba "encantada" de que Estados Unidos "volviera a trabajar juntos" sobre el cambio climático después de cuatro años de liderazgo de Trump.

Los comentarios de Merkel se produjeron cuando Joe Biden reveló planes ambiciosos para reducir las emisiones durante la cumbre virtual de la Casa Blanca.

Biden dijo en la cumbre que Estados Unidos tendrá como objetivo reducir las emisiones de carbono hasta en un 52% para 2030.
