Los precios de las acciones subían ligeramente en las primeras operaciones del jueves de la Bolsa de Valores de Nueva York, gracias a informes económicos positivos. Las operaciones estaban relativamente tranquilas ya que muchos inversores cerraron sus puestos para el año.

El índice S&P 500 subía 0,3% para las 10:15, hora del este de Estados Unidos El promedio industrial Dow Jones aumentaba 0,2% y el Nasdaq mejoraba 0,6%.

Las empresas que dependen del gasto del consumidor, así como las empresas de energía y materiales, lideraban las ganancias. También subían las compañías de viajes y tiempo libre, como Norwegian Cruise Line, Carnival y Wynn Resorts. Las empresas mediáticas también iban al alza, entre ellas Discovery Communications, Viacom y DISH Network.

Las preocupaciones sobre la variante ómicron se han disipado después que los científicos indicaron que parece causar síntomas menos severos y el presidente estadounidense Joe Biden evitó anunciar restricciones de viaje entre otras medidas que pudieron haber impactado la actividad económica.

Aún así, los mercados se mantienen inciertos sobre el impacto de a variante ómicron, que se propaga rápidamente y se convierte en la dominante.

El rendimiento del bono del Tesoro a 10 años se mantenía prácticamente inalterado en 1,55%.
