Los bates de Reales de Kansas City explotaron con 11 carreras en la sexta entrada ante Luis Castillo, que recién firmó un jugoso contrato con Seattle, en una victoria el domingo de 13-12, resultado que costó a los Marineros la oportunidad de ascender en la pelea por un boleto de comodín de la Liga Americana.

Mitch Haniger conectó dos sencillos durante un quinto episodio de ocho carreras para los Marineros, y ganaban 11-2 antes de la parte baja del sexto. Pero Castillo se metió en aprietos y Michael Massey conectó un jonrón y remolcó cuatro carreras durante la entrada más prolífica de los Reales desde 2004.

Los Marineros se mantuvieron en el tercer puesto de la pelea por el comodín, medio juego detrás de Tampa Bay. Seattle continúa cuatro juegos arriba de Baltimore por ese último boleto en los playoffs de la Liga Americana.

Castillo, un All-Star canjeado de Cincinnati a los Marineros a mitad de temporada, obtuvo un contrato de 108 millones de dólares por cinco años que comienza la próxima temporada. El acuerdo fue anunciado el sábado.

Por los Reales, los venezolanos Salvador Pérez de 4-0 con una anotada, Edward Olivares de 4-2 con tres anotadas y una impulsada..

Por los Marineros, el dominicano Carlos Santana de 4-0 con una anotada. El venezolano Luis Torrens con carrera impulsada sin turo oficial al bate.
