Los Rays de Tampa Bay afrontarán los playoffs con una racha de cinco derrotas al completar la temporada regular, luego de permitir un par de jonrones a J.D. Martínez en la derrota el miércoles por 6-3 ante los colistas Medias Rojas de Boston.

Xander Bogaerts añadió dos hits en el que pudo ser su último juego con los Medias Rojas. El torpedero de 30 años, al igual que Martínez, podrá declararse agente libre al final de la postemporada. Recibió una ovación del público en el Fenway Park al ser sustituido en el séptimo inning.

Pese a perder siete de sus últimos ocho juegos, los Rays acabaron 86-76 para quedar terceros en la División Este de la Liga Americana. Abrirán su serie de comodines el viernes en la casa de los Guardianes de Cleveland.

Un año después de ganar 92 juegos para clasificarse a los playoffs con un comodín y alcanzar la serie de campeonato, los Medias Rojas acabaron 77-84, rezagados a 22 juegos del liderato de la división.
