Martín Pérez retiró a los 16 bateadores que tuvo enfrente luego de ser impactado por una línea a 97 mph en la pierna derecha, y los Rangers de Texas blanquearon el martes 3-0 a los Rays de Tampa Bay.

El venezolano laboró siete innings y mejoró su promedio de carreras limpias admitidas, el más destacado de las Grandes Ligas.

Corey Seager disparó un jonrón, el primer hit de Texas, en el cuarto acto. El cubano Adolis García añadió un garrotazo de dos carreras dos bateadores después y los Rangers llegaron a la marca de .500 (24-24) por primera vez en esta campaña.

Pérez (4-2) necesitó unos minutos para recuperarse tras recibir el pelotazo, que se convirtió en un sencillo dentro del cuadro por parte de Taylor Walls en el segundo inning.

El zurdo permaneció en el montículo, hizo que el dominicano Vidal Bruján bateara un elevado con dos corredores a bordo y luego cubrió cinco innings perfectos.
