Los panameños podrán estar sin mascarilla en espacios abiertos y cerrados a partir del lunes pero tendrán que usarlas en centros hospitalarios y el transporte público, pese a que las autoridades de salud insisten en mantener el cuidado en momentos en que continúan altos los contagios de COVID-19.

Panamá sigue así a algunos países de Centroamérica, incluido El Salvador, que eliminaron la obligatoriedad del uso de tapabocas para protegerse de la infección.

Las autoridades habían levantado semanas antes el uso obligatorio de las mascarillas pero sólo en espacios abiertos. A pesar de esa medida y de la dispuesta desde el lunes, muchos panameños seguían utilizando los barbijos en calles y restaurantes.

Mientras tanto, el país de más de cuatro millones de habitantes registra un promedio de más de 1.000 casos diarios, aunque según las autoridades el número de hospitalizaciones y muertes por la enfermedad continúan bajos. Panamá suma más de 8.300 decesos por COVID-19.
