El bateador emergente J.J. Matijevic conectó un sencillo productor cuando iban dos outs en la novena entrada y los Astros de Houston se impusieron el jueves 3-2 a los Yanquis de Nueva York, en el primer partido de una doble cartelera entre clubes de la Liga Americana

Alex Bregman sacudió un sencillo como primero en el turno de bateo a Michael King (6-3) en el noveno episodio y avanzó a la antesala con un doble del cubano Aledmys Díaz.

Después del ponchete al cubano Yuli Gurriel, el bateador emergente Yordan Álvarez llenó las bases tras recibir base por bolas intencional.

Parecía que King superaría el predicamento después de que ponchara a Chas McCormick, pero el novato Matijevic remolcó a Bregman con un sencillo al campo en dirección al torpedero.

Con su doble cartelera, los Yanquis —líderes en las Grandes Ligas— y los Astros están reponiendo una serie que se pospuso debido al paro patronal. Houston ganó el primer encuentro de la serie el 30 de junio.
