Wil Myers remolcó a Manny Machado con un sencillo con el bate roto en el octavo inning y los Padres de San Diego derrotaron el viernes 4-3 a los Piratas de Pittsburgh.

Machado, que inició el juego con un promedio de bateo de .357, el mejor de la Liga Nacional, inició el rally de la victoria al recibir un pase por bolas al inicio del episodio ante Duane Underwood Jr. (0-1). Avanzó a tercera en un sencillo de Eric Hosmer a entre los jardines derecho y central, y llegó al plato gracias al sencillo con el que Myers destrozó su bate.

Nabil Crismatt (3-0) lanzó un octavo capítulo perfecto para reclamar el triunfo y Taylor Rogers trabajó el noveno para su 17mo salvamento de la temporada.

Los padres no la sacaban del parque desde el bambinazo solitario de Machado en su triunfo por 2-1 sobre San Francisco el sábado.

Por los Piratas, el dominicano Rodolfo Castro de 4-0. Los venezolanos Tucupita Marcano de 2-1; Diego Castillo de 4-1, con dos producidas.

Por los Padres, el colombiano Jorge Alfaro de 2-1. El venezolano José Azocar de 2-0. El dominicano Robinson Canó de 1-0.
