MLB: Seager sustituye a Springer en el Juego de Estrellas

El torpedero Corey Seager reemplazó al jardinero George Springer en el equipo de la Liga America disputará el Juego de Estrellas la semana entrante.

Los Rangers de Texas informaron que Seager sustituirá a Springer. Sin embargo, Springer estaba incluido en la alineación titular de los Azulejos para el partido del jueves en la noche contra Kansas City.

Seager sumará tres participaciones en el Juego de Estrellas después de las de 2016 y 2017 cuando formaba parte de los Dodgers de Los Ángeles.

Antes del encuentro del jueves, el torpedero bateaba para .245, con 21 jonrones y 48 carreras producidas.

Durante el receso de campaña, Seager firmó con los Rangers un contrato de 10 temporadas por 325 millones de dólares, que incluía un bono de 100.000 dólares si lo elegían al Juego de Estrellas.

Seager se convirtió en el cuarto pelotero agregado al Juego de Estrellas después del lanzador zurdo de San Francisco Carlos Rodón; el bateador designado de Boston J.D. Martínez; y el primera base de Miami Garrett Cooper.

Los tres jugadores sustituyeron a Bryce Harper (Filadelfia); al cubano Yordan Álvarez (Houston), que están lesionados, y al taponero Josh Hader (Milwaukee), que no asistirá al Juego de Estrellas del 19 de julio en el Dodger Stadium porque atenderá asuntos familiares.
