Marineros vencen a Azulejos con jonrones de Santana

Un tiro atravesó el guante del primera base de los Azulejos, Vladimir Guerrero Jr., y los Marineros de Seattle aprovecharon para apuntarse su octava victoria consecutiva, al vencer el domingo 6-5 a Toronto con dos jonrones de Carlos Santana.

Un día después de que Santana conectó un cuadrangular de dos carreras en la séptima entrada para ganar 2-1, bateó un jonrón de dos carreras en el octavo inning. Los Marineros tienen marca de 16-3 en su mejor racha en 19 juegos desde 2003.

El abridor de los Azulejos, Max Castillo, fue retirado en el quinto inning con una ventaja de 4-1 luego de permitir un par de sencillos con un out, y el relevista David Phelps dio base por bolas a Justin Upton para llenar las bases.

Sam Haggerty luego envió un roleta a Phelps, quien lanzó al plato para comenzar lo que parecía ser una fácil doble matanza al final de la entrada. Pero el lanzamiento del receptor Gabriel Moreno atravesó el guante del primera base Guerrero, permitiendo que anotara una carrera.

Por los Marineros, los dominicanos Julio Rodríguez de 4-1 con una impulsada, Carlos Santana de 3-2 con tres anotadas y tres impulsadas. El venezolano Eugenio Suárez de 3-1.
