El novato Julio Rodríguez conectó el primero de cuatro jonrones de Seattle ante el as Justin Verlander, y los Marineros derrotaron el viernes 6-1 a los Astros de Houston.

Rodríguez, Kyle Lewis, Ty France y Taylor Trammell fueron los autores de los vuelacercas ante Verlander, quien igualó su peor marca de cuadrangulares admitidos durante una apertura.

Verlander (6-2) ingresó al encuentro con siete carreras limpias toleradas en 51 entradas y dos tercios durante la presente campaña. Permitió seis de los Marineros, todas mediante jonrones.

El dominicano Rodríguez puso en marcha la ofensiva, con su cuadrangular de dos carreras en la primera entrada, al lanzamiento inicial que le hizo Verlander.

Chris Flexen (2-6) ofreció una joya de pitcheo. Aceptó una carrera y siete hits a lo largo de siete capítulos, con seis ponches.

Por los Astros, el venezolano José Altuve de 5-1. Los cubanos Yordan Álvarez de 4-2, Yuli Gurriel de 4-2 con una anotada. Los dominicanos Jeremy Peña de 4-2, José Siri de 4-0 con una empujada. El puertorriqueño Martín Maldonado de 3-0.

Por los Marineros, el dominicano Rodríguez de 4-1 con una anotada y dos impulsadas. El venezolano Eugenio Suárez de 4-0.
