La reina Isabel II tuvo su audiencia semanal con el primer ministro Boris Johnson por teléfono el miércoles a pesar de haber contraído COVID-19, dijo el Palacio de Buckingham.

Isabel, de 95 años, había cancelado incluso las reuniones virtuales el martes tras presentar síntomas parecidos a los de un resfriado. Su edad, diagnóstico de COVID-19 y reciente problema de salud han sido motivo de preocupación para los funcionarios británicos y el público, pero el hecho de que esté lo suficientemente bien como para hablar con Johnson fue visto como una señal alentadora.

Las autoridades confirmaron el domingo que la reina dio positivo por COVID-19. El diagnóstico generó preocupación y deseos de recuperación de todo el espectro político británico para la reina, la monarca con el reinado más prolongado del país.

El palacio dijo el domingo que Isabel, que ha recibido tres dosis de la vacuna contra el coronavirus, continuaría realizando tareas “ligeras” en el Castillo de Windsor durante la próxima semana.
