El secretario general de la OTAN, Jens Stoltenberg, canceló una serie de reuniones presenciales en Alemania y Rumanía porque ha contraído herpes zóster tras sufrir una infección de coronavirus el mes pasado, según dijo el jueves su oficina.

“El secretario general realizará su visita prevista a Alemania (y Rumanía) de forma remota en lugar de presencial. Se le ha diagnosticado un herpes zóster, algo que puede ocurrir después del COVID-19, y está trabajando desde casa", indicó un representante de la OTAN.

El exprimer ministro noruego, de 63 años, tenía previsto reunirse el jueves en Berlín con el canciller de Alemania y el ministro de defensa del país.

Stoltenberg, que ha completado su vacunación contra el COVID-19, contrajo el virus a principios de mayo y se vio obligado a trabajar desde casa mientras los ministros de exteriores del grupo se reunían en Berlín.

El herpes zóster se debe al mismo virus que causa la varicela. A menudo se muestra como un sarpullido con ampollas. Puede ser especialmente doloroso para los pacientes adultos.
