Un incendio que se desató el jueves en un edificio de departamentos en Buenos Aires causó la muerte de cinco integrantes de una misma familia y distintas afecciones a cerca de 20 vecinos que fueron hospitalizados.

Alberto Crescenti, titular del estatal Sistema de Atención Médica de Emergencias (SAME) de la capital, dijo que entre los fallecidos hay tres menores de edad y dos mujeres que se encontraban en un mismo apartamento, quienes no pudieron ser reanimados durante el trayecto hacia los hospitales adonde eran trasladados.

"Seguimos recorriendo los pisos para sacar a la gente afectada. Estamos recorriendo piso por piso”, dijo Crescenti a los medios de prensa apostados en el lugar.

Entre los heridos hay un hombre en estado grave, con ventilación asistida. Varios de los hospitalizados estaban afectados por la inhalación de monóxido de carbono.

El fuego se desató durante la madrugada en la séptima planta de un edificio de 14 pisos. Las primeras llamas se registraron en un ambiente amplio y rápidamente se extendieron a la cocina y los dormitorios de la vivienda afectada para luego alcanzar la sala de estar del piso superior.

Los bomberos lograron extinguir el incendio, cuyas causas son investigadas.
