Un enfrentamiento entre aficionados de los clubes Municipal de Guatemala y Olimpia de Honduras antes de un partido dejó heridas al menos a siete personas, incluidos cinco agentes policiales, informaron el jueves las autoridades, que reportaron además la detención de seis personas.

La antesala del encuentro en el Estadio Nacional Doroteo Guamuch Flores de la capital guatemalteca se convirtió en una batalla campal entre los hinchas rivales y entre éstos y los agentes que intervinieron en busca de parar la gresca.

Edwin Monroy vocero de la Policía, afirmó que los seis detenidos son de nacionalidad hondureña. Agregó que, tras desatarse la riña, la policía lanzó bombas lacrimógenas.

Videos compartidos en las redes sociales mostraron a un joven que presentaba una profusa hemorragia en el cuello. El hospital General San Juan de Dios informó que había recibido a una persona herida por arma de fuego en los disturbios y que su condición era delicada.

Pese a los choques, se llevó a cabo el encuentro correspondiente a la ida de los octavos de final de la Liga CONCACAF el torneo secundario de clubes de la región. El conjunto local, que iba perdiendo por dos goles de diferencia rescató el empate 2-2 luego que el cuadro hondureño perdió a dos jugadores por expulsión.
