Austin Hedges rompió el empate con un sencillo de dos carreras en el quinto inning para ayudar a los Guardianes de Cleveland a vencer el domingo 5-3 al abridor del Juego de Estrellas Shane McClanahan y a los Rays de Tampa Bay.

Cleveland ganó su primera serie contra los Rays desde agosto de 2017 y puso fin a una larga racha de partidos fuera de casa con récord de 6-5.

El relevista Kirk McCarty (2-2) permitió una carrera, cuatro imparables y dos bases por bolas en tres entradas y un tercio. Emmanuel Clase trabajó la novena entrada para conseguir su 23er salvamento.

McClanahan (10-4) permitió cinco carreras, siete hits y tres pasaportes, con cuatro ponches en cuatro entradas y un tercio —empatando el mínimo de la temporada. Su mejor efectividad de 1.76 en Grandes Ligas empeoró a 2.07 y el zurdo detuvo en 13 juegos su racha de seis o más innings con dos carreras limpias o menos.

David Peralta, adquirido de Arizona el sábado, inició en el jardín izquierdo y se fue de 4-1 en su debut con los Rays. Tampa Bay tiene marca de 3-7 después del receso del Juego de Estrellas.

Por los Guardianes, los dominicanos Amed Rosario de 5-1, José Ramírez de 5-1 con una impulsada, Franmil Reyes de 5-1 con una anotada. El venezolano Andrés Giménez de 4-0 con una anotada.

Por los Rays, los cubanos Yandy Díaz de 5-0, Randy Arozarena de 3-1. Los venezolanos David Peralta de 4-1, René Pinto de 3-0. El mexicano Isaac Paredes de 4-2 con dos anotadas.
