Halep avanza a semis en Transilvania; sorprenden a Raducanu

La rumana y primera cabeza de serie Simona Halep avanzó el viernes a las semifinales del Abierto de Transilvania en una jornada en que Emma Raducanu campeona del U.S. Open, perdió un duelo entre adolescentes en menos de una hora.

Raducanu, de 18 años y tercera preclasificada, cayó 6-2, 6-1 ante la ucraniana Marta Kostyuk, de 19 años, en un partido en el que la británica batalló con su saque de principio a fin. Raducanu cometió siete dobles faltas y ganó menos de la mitad de los points en los games de su servicio, lo que Kostyuk aprovechó para llegar a su tercer semifinal de la temporada.

Kostyuk buscará avanzar a la primera final de su carrera cuando se mida con Halep, quien superó fácilmente 6-1, 6-1 a su compatriota Jacqueline Cristian.

La segunda preclasificada del torneo, Anett Kontaveit, también tuvo un camino sin contratiempos hacia las semifinales, al vencer 6-3, 6-1 a la ucraniana Anhelina Kalinina para llegar a su 13er triunfo consecutivo bajo techo, después de alzar títulos en Ostrava y Moscú

La victoria mantuvo a la estonia y segunda preclasificada en la pelea por un boleto para las Finales de la WTA del próximo mes.

Kontaveit enfrentará a la sueca Rebecca Peterson, quien por su parte doblegó 6-2, 3-6, 6-3 a la ucraniana Lesia Tsurenko.
