España impuso una multa de casi 79 millones de euros (78 millones de dólares) a la compañía de reparto Glovo por incumplir una ley de 2021 que obligaba a las plataformas de reparto de comida a contratar a sus mensajeros, según anunció el miércoles la ministra española de Trabajo.

Glovo siguió tratando a unos 10.000 repartidores habituales como trabajadores autónomos cuando deberían haberse incorporado como miembros de la plantilla, indicó la ministra, Yolanda Díaz.

"Estamos ante unos falsos autónomos y el peso de la ley va a caer sobre esta empresa como ha caído con la inspección de trabajo”, afirmó Díaz.

La ministra confirmó la multa, reportada en un principio por la emisora Cadena SER, a periodistas en el Congreso español. Díaz dijo que la sanción, resultado de una pesquisa de inspectores de trabajo, ha llevado a que Glovo contrate a esos 10.000 trabajadores.

Glovo es una empresa española que opera en 25 países, la mayoría en Europa.
