El novato Jeremy Peña conectó dos jonrones, coronado por un jonrón de dos carreras con dos outs en el noveno inning ante Ryan Tepera (1-2) para ganarlo.

Trout se ponchó siete veces seguidas en los primeros dos juegos. En el último, el tres veces Jugador Más Valioso de la Liga Americana se embasó en su primer turno al bate por un error de Peña en el campocorto antes de poncharse en sus próximas dos apariciones en el plato.

Trout fue puesto fuera con un elevado en su último turno al bate para extender su racha a 14-0. Se encuentra en otra sólida temporada, bateando para .272 con 23 jonrones y 47 carreras impulsadas, a pesar de su segunda mala racha del año —la peor de su carrera, de 26-0 terminó el 6 de junio.
