El Canal de Suez, en Egipto, bate su récord histórico de ingresos mensuales, con 629 millones de dólares reunidos en abril

El Canal de Suez, en Egipto, dijo el domingo que había batido su récord histórico de ingresos mensuales, con 629 millones de dólares reunidos en abril.

El hito se alcanzó tras un aumento de las tarifas en marzo para los barcos que pasan por la ruta.

Durante el mes pasado pasaron 1.929 barcos por el Canal, en comparación con los 1.814 de abril de 2021, señaló en un comunicado el almirante Ossama Rabei, responsable de la Autoridad del Canal de Suez.

Los ingresos subieron en un 13,9 en comparación con abril del año pasado, cuando el crucial paso marítimo recibió 553,6 millones de dólares.

En torno al 10% del comercio global, incluido el 7% del petróleo del mundo, pasa por el canal, que conecta el Mar Rojo con el Mediterráneo.

El canal abrió en 1869 y es una importante fuente de ingresos para Egipto.

Los ingresos anuales del canal alcanzaron los 6.300 millones de dólares en 2021, la cifra más alta de la historia. El año pasado pasaron por allí 20.649 barcos, un aumento del 10% en comparación con los 18.830 de 2020.

La industria naviero sigue presionado por la pandemia de coronavirus, y la guerra de Rusia en Ucrania se ha sumado a las preocupaciones económicas globales.
