EEUU: Harris critica a El Salvador por destitución de jueces

La vicepresidenta estadounidense Kamala Harris critica la decisión del Congreso salvadoreño de destituir de un plumazo a los magistrados de la Sala Constitucional de la Corte Suprema y al Fiscal General de ese país

La vicepresidenta estadounidense Kamala Harris criticó el martes la decisión del Congreso salvadoreño de destituir de un plumazo a los magistrados de la Sala Constitucional de la Corte Suprema y al Fiscal General de ese país.

“Este fin de semana nos enteramos de que el parlamento salvadoreño actuó para socavar la Corte Suprema de su país”, dijo Harris durante una conferencia sobre las Américas celebrada remotamente.

“Un sistema judicial independiente es crítico para lograr una democracia sana y una economía fuerte. En este frente, en cada frente, debemos responder”, agregó.

La decisión del Congreso salvadoreño, dominado por el partido Nuevas Ideas del presidente Nayib Bukele de destituir de a los magistrados elevó al máximo las preocupaciones a nivel local e internacional sobre que se esté trastocando la división de poderes en el país centroamericano.

Harris habló el martes sobre la política que quiere promover hacia la región centroamericana, destacando su intención de intentar solucionar problemas inmediatos como la violencia Y la pobreza y al mismo tiempo lidiar con las causas de estos problemas a largo plazo, desde la corrupción a la falta de oportunidades económicas.

Respecto de El Salvador Harris también dijo que hay que concentrase en frenar la violencia en zonas de ese país donde registra altos niveles. También dijo que se debe dar a la gente joven alternativas al reclutamiento por parte de pandillas.
