Josh Rojas anotó la carrera de la victoria en el noveno inning cuando el campocorto C.J. Abrams no logró manejar un lanzamiento a segunda base, y los Diamondbacks de Arizona remontaron un déficit de seis carreras para imponerse 7-6 el martes a los Padres de San Diego.

Arizona perdía 6-0 tras seis innings, pero anotó cuatro en el séptimo e igualó con dos más en el octavo.

Mark Melancon (3-6) dejó un corredor varado en tercera en el noveno tras un boleto y dos lanzamientos descontrolados, lo que planteó el escenario para un final dramático.

Taylor Rogers (0-4) cargó con la derrota tras lograr los dos primeros outs en la parte baja del noveno, pero admitió sencillos de Rojas y Ketel Marte. Entonces Christian Walker envió un squibber hacia la derecha y el primera base Eric Hosmer lanzó a segundo tratando de sacar a Marte. El dominicano llegó con fuerza a la base, lo que hizo que a Abrams se le escapara la pelota, y Rojas se lanzó con la cabeza por delante al plato para dar inicio a una gran celebración.

Por los Padres, el colombiano Jorge Alfaro de 5-2 con tres remolcadas. El dominicano Nomar Mazara de 3-1 con una anotada y dos impulsadas. El venezolano José Azocar de 1-0.

Por los Diamondbacks, el venezolano David Peralta de 2-0. El dominicano Ketel Marte de 3-2 con dos anotadas.
