El dominicano Johnny Cueto lanzó otras seis entradas en blanco, AJ Pollock conectó un jonrón para romper el empate ante Aroldis Chapman en el noveno episodio y los Medias Blancas de Chicago vencieron 3-1 a los Yanquis de Nueva York en un domingo relativo tranquilo en el primer partido de una doble cartelera.

No parecía haber ningún remanente de la ira y la tensión en el Yankee Stadium de la tarde anterior. El sábado, las bancas se vaciaron y el toletero de los Yanquis Josh Donaldson, que es blanco, reconoció haber llamado a la estrella de Chicago Tim Anderson, que es de raza negra, “Jackie” —una referencia al ícono pionero del béisbol Jackie Robinson_, lo que provocó críticas de ambos managers.

Anderson no jugó en el primer partido. El manager Tony La Russa dijo que quería que el campocorto estrella participara en solo un partido.

Pollock abrió la novena entrada con un jonrón contra Chapman (0-2), que además permitió un doblete productor de Adam Engel.

Yasmani Grandal, cuya discusión con Donaldson el sábado provocó que las bancas se vaciaran, bateó un sencillo productor en el cuarto inning.

Por los Medias Blancas, los cubanos José Abreu de 4-1 con anotada, Luis Robert de 4-1, Grandal de ,4-1 con una remolcada y Yoán Moncada de 5-1. El dominicano Leury García de 4-0.

Por los Yanquis, los venezolanos Gleyber Torres de 1-0, y Marwin González de 3-0.
