Los dominicanos Johnny Cueto y Reynaldo López se combinaron para una labor de tres hits y los Medias Blancas de Chicago navegaron tranquilos el sábado para aplastar 7-0 a los Astros de Houston.

El cubano Luis Robert igualó la mejor marca de su carrera con cuatro remolcadas y los Medias Blancas atacaron temprano a Justin Verlander.

Cueto (1-3) toleró dos imparables y recetó cinco ponches a lo largo de siete innings, su labor más prolongada de la campaña. No ganaba desde el 29 de julio, cuando militaba en San Francisco.

Robert igualó su mejor cifra de la temporada, al conectar tres hits y su compatriota José Abreu empujó un par de carreras por Chicago, que tomó una ventaja de 7-0 tras apenas cuatro innings para lograr su cuarto triunfo en cinco compromisos.

López aceptó un incogible y ninguna carrera durante dos innings para completar la blanqueada.

Verlander (8-3) comenzó la jornada empatado en la cima de las mayores con ocho triunfos, pero tuvo una apertura inusitadamente mala en lo que ha sido una temporada espléndida que marcó su regreso desde que se perdió dos años por la cirugía de Tommy John.

Por los Medias Blancas, los cubanos Robert de 5-3 con una anotada y cuatro empujadas, Abreu de 4-1 con dos impulsadas.

Por los Astros, el venezolano José Altuve de 4-2. Los cubanos Yordan Álvarez de 3-0, Yuli Gurriel de 3-0, Aledmys Díaz de 2-0. El hondureño Mauricio Dubón de 1-0. El dominicano José Siri de 3-0. El puertorriqueño Martín Maldonado de 1-0.
