Aledmys Díaz disparó un grand slam y los Astros de Houston le dieron una paliza al venezolano Martín Pérez para imponerse el martes por 7-5 a los Rangers de Texas.

Pérez (9-3) empató el máximo número de su carrera al permitir siete entradas en poco más de cinco episodios y puso fin a su racha de nueve victorias consecutivas, la más larga en las Grandes Ligas y la mejor de su carrera. Sumaba 19 aperturas sin perder y su última derrota fue el 17 de abril.

Los Astros pusieron fin a una seguidilla de dos derrotas sin el mánager Dusty Baker, quien se mantiene fuera tras dar positivo por COVID-19 el jueves.

Baker fue aislado en una habitación de hotel en Cleveland todo el fin de semana antes de tomar un jet privado de regreso a Houston el lunes.

El puertorriqueño Joe Espada, entrenador de banca, será el mánager de los líderes del Oeste de la Liga Americana hasta que regrese Baker.

El mexicano José Urquidy (11-4) permitió cinco carreras, permitió la peor cifra de su trayectoria, con tres jonrones en cinco innings, pero consiguió su tercera victoria gracias a la ofensiva.

Por los Rangers, el cubano Adolis García de 3-1 con una anotada y una remolcada. El dominicano Leody Taveras de 4-0. El colombiano Meibrys Viloria de 1-0.

Por los Astros, el venezolano José Altuve de 4-2 con dos anotadas y una empujada. Los cubanos Yuli Gurriel de 2-0, Yordan Álvarez de 4-0 y Díaz de 4-1 con una anotada y cuatro empujadas. El dominicano Jeremy Peña de 3-0. El puertorriqueño Christian Vázquez de 3-1.
