Jeimer Candelario y Dustin Garneau batearon sendos vuelacercas para que los Tigres de Detroit superaran el sábado 4-3 a los Rays de Tampa Bay líderes de la División Este de la Liga Americana.

Tampa Bay tiene una ventaja de siete juegos y medio sobre Boston que ocupa el segundo sitio. Toronto marcha a ocho juegos y medio, y los Yanquis de Nueva York a 10.

Los Tigres tenían una ventaja de una carrera en el comienzo de la novena entrada, cuando Mike Zunino gestionó un boleto de Michael Fulmer y avanzó a la intermedia gracias a un pelotazo que se llevó Joey Wendle.

Fulmer consiguió su décimo salvamento en 15 oportunidades cuando ponchó a Brett Phillips y obligó a que el cubano Yandy Díaz bateara una roleta para doble matanza, que puso fin al encuentro.

El dominicano José Ureña (4-8) se llevó el triunfo al tolerar una carrera y dos hits a lo largo de tres innings y un tercio.
