El estelar Byron Buxton conectó un jonrón para empatar en el cuarto episodio frente a Joe Musgrove y Carlos Correa le dio un respiro a Minnesota con un cuadrangular de dos carreras en una octava entrada de cinco anotaciones para que los Mellizos superaran 7-4 el sábado a los Padres de San Diego

Los Mellizos le endilgaron su cuarta derrota seguida a Musgrove (8-4), quien fue seleccionado por primera vez al Juego de Estrellas. Los Padres están cerca de concretar con el lanzador un acuerdo de cinco años y 100 millones de dólares que iniciaría el próximo año.

Sonny Gray (6-3) permitió un jonrón solitario al astro dominicano Manny Machado con dos outs en la tercera entrada, pero por lo demás mantuvo a raya a los Padres en cinco innings.

San Diego conectó cinco cuadrangulares camino a ganar 10-1 el viernes, incluyendo un garrotazo de dos carreras de Machado. Gray permitió cinco hits, ponchando a cinco y regalando un boleto.

Musgrove no ha ganado desde el juego del 16 de junio ante los Cachorros de Chicago el 16 de junio. Permitió dos carreras y cuatro hits en seis innings, ponchando a ocho y entregando dos bases por bola.
