Luis Castillo fue sacado del juego en el quinto inning y los Marineros de Seattle, que lograron apenas un hit, perdieron el martes 4-1 ante los Atléticos de Oakland.

Un sencillo de Carlos Santana al cuadro en el segundo episodio fue toda la cosecha de los Marineros en el plato ante JP Sears (6-2), quien se anotó el triunfo, y cuatro relevistas.

Seattle sigue un juego y medio por detrás de Tampa Bay en la pugna por el tercer y último comodín de la Liga Americana.

Los Marineros siguen a 11 juegos de avanzar a los playoffs por primera vez desde 2001, cuando lograron 116 victorias en la temporada regular.

El dominicano Castillo (7-6) cargó con la derrota e igualó su salida más corta de la temporada con cuatro entradas y dos tercios en la lomita. El derecho cedió cuatro anotaciones en seis hits, abanicó a cuatro y concedió dos pasaportes.

Su compatriota Domingo Acevedo trabajó la novena para su tercer salvamento.
