Framber Valdez trabajó siete entradas en blanco, Martín Maldonado y Alex Bregman produjeron tres carreras cada uno con sendos jonrones, y los Astros de Houston derrotaron el jueves 7-3 a los Rangers de Texas.

Los Astros (72-41) se pusieron juego y medio arriba de los trastabillantes Yanquis de Nueva York en la lucha por la mejor foja de la Liga Americana, justo en la jornada en que el manager Dusty Baker volvió tras perderse cinco duelos por haber contraído COVID-19.

El dominicano Valdez (11-4) aceptó cuatro sencillos y repartió ocho ponches para lograr su tercera victoria en fila.

Houston le cayó a palos al novato Cole Ragans (0-1), quien recibió cinco carreras en cuatro innings y un tercio.

El dominicano Jeremy Peña y Jake Meyers conectaron sencillos consecutivos con un out en la segunda entrada, antes de que el boricua Maldonado lograra el batazo que colocó la pizarra 3-0.

El cubano Yuli Gurriel bateó un sencillo par der inicio al quinto inning por Houston. El jonrón de Bregman, con un out, estrelló la pelota en el muro del jardín izquierdo, para colocar la ventaja en 5-0 y poner fin a la labor de Ragans, de 24 años y quien cumplió su segunda apertura en las mayores.
