Angelinos derrotan a Rangers a pesar de triple play

Taylor Ward bateó un doble remolcador que rompió el empate durante un ataque de tres carreras de los Angelinos de Los Ángeles en el sexto inning, el cual concluyó con un triple play que no salvó el martes a los Rangers de Texas de la derrota por 5-2.

Ward bateó un doble al rincón del jardín izquierdo para remolcar a Shohei Ohtani desde la inicial ante el dominicano Dennis Santana (3-8), el primero de tres relevistas de Texas.

Mike Ford y Jo Adell añadieron sencillos productores ante John King.

Con las bases repletas y sin out, Mike Stassi bateó un potente rodado por tercera. Josh Jung atrapó la bola detrás de la almohadilla, la pisó y tiró a segunda, mientras que Marcus Semien lanzó hacia Nathaniel Lowe en primera para completar la triple matanza.

Se trató del segundo triple play en la temporada para los Rangers —por primera vez para el club— y el octavo en los 51 años de historia de Texas.

Patrick Sandoval (6-9) consiguió su tercera victoria consecutiva pese a permitir la carrera del empate en la quinta entrada. Sandoval permitió ambas carreras de los Rangers en tres hits, ponchado a siete y con cuatro boletos.

Su racha de victorias siguió a una seguidilla de siete derrotas entre mediados de junio y mediados de agosto.

Por los Angelinos, los venezolanos Luis Rengifo de 4-1, Livan Soto de 4-0. El dominicano Magnerius Sierra de 1-0.

Por los Rangers, el cubano Adolis García de 3-0. El dominicano Leody Taveras de 3-0.
