Tyler Alexander mantuvo el sin hit de Baltimore hasta la séptima entrada, Riley Green empujó tres carreras y los Tigres de Detroit frenó el impulso de los Orioles para conseguir su boleto a la postemporada con la victoria el lunes por 11-0.

Baltimore cayó cinco juegos detrás de Seattle en la carrera por el último de los comodines de la Liga Americana. Ambos equipos tienen 16 encuentros por disputar y los Marineros tienen la ventaja en el desempate tras ganar la serie de temporada.

Alexander (4-10) permitió sólo dos peloteros en base en las primeras seis entradas, ambos con boleto, antes de que Ryan Mountcastle iniciara la séptima con un sencillo. El venezolano Anthony Santander le siguió con otro sencillo, pero ambos corredores se vieron impedidos.

Alexander empató el máximo de su carrera lanzando siete entradas. El zurdo, que ponchó a cuatro, no había ganado en cuatro juegos como abridor desde el 20 de agosto.

Will Vest trabajó la octava y el dominicano José Cisnero completó el juego de dos hits.
