La venta del Chelsea de la Premier League inglesa podría hacerse efectiva el lunes después de que se haya alcanzado un acuerdo “final y definitivo” con el consorcio liderado por Todd Boehly, copropietarios de los Dodgers de Los Ángeles.

“Anoche se llegó a un acuerdo final y definitivo" para cerrar la venta al consorcio Boehly and Clearlake Capital, explicó el club inglés el sábado. El precio de venta se fijó en 2.500 millones de libras (3.200 millones de dólares), la cifra más alta pagada nunca por un equipo deportivo.

“Se espera que la transacción se complete el lunes", agregó.

El anuncio se produjo tras una serie de autorizaciones que permitieron que Roman Abramovich se desprenda de la institución tras 19 años como propietario, a consecuencia de las sanciones por sus vínculos con el presidente de Rusia, Vladimir Putin, tras la invasión rusa de Ucrania.

El gobierno británico, que había sancionado a Abramovich, dio el visto bueno a la operación esta semana tras asegurarse de que el oligarca ruso no se beneficiará de la venta forzosa del club. La Premier League ya la había autorizado antes.

Los activos de Abramovich fueron congelados en marzo y el Chelsea ha estado operando bajo una licencia del gobierno británico, que vence el martes.
